Regalis, as of
In brief
A reputable recruiter asks for no money up front and promises neither a visa nor a job. German law forbids recruiters to take an advance from job seekers and ties any fee to a written contract and to an employment contract that has actually been concluded. At Regalis candidates pay nothing, not even to our local partners, because the company pays the fee.
Warning signs
Fraudsters exploit the wish to work in Europe. Some signs come up again and again. If one of them applies, pay nothing and ask questions.
- Someone asks for money for a job, a place on a list or an appointment.
- Someone firmly promises you a visa or an employment contract.
- Someone pushes you to pay quickly and gives you no time to think.
- Someone wants to keep your passport or your original certificates.
- Contact only runs through a messenger, without an address and without the name of a company.
What German law says about fees
In Germany, private recruitment agents are bound by the rules of Book Three of the Social Code. A contract in which an agent undertakes to find you a job must be in writing and must state the fee.
A job seeker only has to pay if an employment contract has come about through the placement, and only up to a legal ceiling. An agent may neither demand nor accept an advance.
How to recognise a reputable recruiter
A company in Germany must state its name, postal address and an email address on its website where they are easy to find. If this imprint is missing, be careful.
A reputable recruiter talks to you first, looks at your documents and says openly what is possible and what is not. They work with copies of your documents and only present you to a company once you have agreed.
Only the German mission abroad decides on the visa. Nobody can sell it to you.
How Regalis works
Regalis places people directly into employment with the company. We do not offer temporary agency work. You sign the employment contract with the company, and only the hiring company pays our fee.
Candidates pay nothing, neither to Regalis nor to our local partners and scouts. Our partners and scouts may not charge candidates any fees. This applies to registration, advice and placement.
Every Regalis partner has a personal code. On our verification page you can see whether they are registered with us.
If you are unsure
Pay nothing as long as you have doubts. Ask us, even if someone claims to be a Regalis partner. We follow up every report.
The Federal Employment Agency and the German missions abroad give general information about working in Germany.
