Duties and workplaces
Nursing assistants help people with personal care, eating and moving. They accompany the residents' daily lives and watch for changes. They pass on what they observe to the registered nurse.
Responsibility for planning the care lies with the registered nurse. The facility sets out according to its rules which tasks an assistant may take on. The work is in shifts, including weekends.
What counts most at the start is how someone deals with people. Patience, reliability and enjoying teamwork are often more important than a certificate.

Recognition
Regulated depending on the individual case
The responsible office is an office of the federal state in which the work is to be taken up.
For nursing assistance, the classification depends on the federal state and on the training. The federal states currently regulate the training in nursing assistance and care assistance themselves. This is why titles and rules are not the same everywhere.
Anyone with a qualification in nursing assistance can have it assessed. The portal Recognition in Germany names the responsible office and the documents.
The office compares the foreign training with the training of its state. If substantial differences remain, the decision names them. The office says whether and how the differences can be made up.
Which residence title is possible for work in nursing assistance depends on the individual case. The German mission abroad and the foreigners authority clarify this. If a candidate holds a qualification as a registered nurse, recognition as a nurse is also worth a look.
Only the responsible offices decide on recognition, residence title and approval. We promise neither a result nor a time frame.
German language skills
In nursing assistance you talk to residents, relatives and colleagues every day. Understandable German is therefore important. There is no fixed level for everyone.
What is required depends on the residence title, on the rules of the federal state and on the facility. The responsible office or the company states it in the individual case.
We record the candidates' language level on the European scale from A1 to C2 and ask for proof. Tell us early which level your facility expects.
Documents
We ask nursing assistants for these documents. Many of them are optional and help to classify the experience.
- required CV Including places of work and care duties.
- if available Care course certificates Basic care course, first aid or comparable training.
- if available Employment references Confirmations from a care home, clinic or home care service.
- required German language certificate Clear German matters in daily contact with residents.
- if available Note: certificate of good conduct Many employers ask for it before you start.
The list is a general guide and creates no legal entitlement. The responsible office and the company say what is required in the individual case.
Training in Uzbekistan and Türkiye
Türkiye
In Türkiye vocational education usually starts at vocational upper secondary schools with a subject focus. Many candidates have also worked in care, in facilities or in families. Courses and references help to prove this experience.
Uzbekistan
In Uzbekistan young people learn an occupation at colleges and technical schools with a lot of practice. Not all experience in care is backed by a certificate. We record what is proven and what is not.
