Who comes
We approach candidates in Greece and Cyprus directly, in Greek and with pages of their own. We are building cooperation with schools for German.
We search mainly in the occupations companies in Germany ask for most often.
Nurses are an exception: nursing is a regulated profession. Before working as a nurse, the responsible authority has to recognise the qualification.
- Cooks, assistant cooks and kitchen staff
- Hotel staff for reception, housekeeping and breakfast
- Metal and construction, for example welders, metalworkers, bricklayers and helpers
- Professional drivers with a category C, CE or D licence
What the law requires
EU citizens enjoy freedom of movement for workers in Germany. A visa, a work permit and approval by the Federal Employment Agency are not needed.
The law requires neither vocational training nor German skills from EU citizens. There is no salary threshold for them as there is for some visas for non-EU countries.
Recognition of a qualification is only needed in regulated professions, for example in nursing.
The minimum wage and collective agreements apply to skilled workers from the EU as to all employees in Germany.
What your company does
You sign the employment contract directly with the worker. Then you register the worker for social insurance, like any new employee.
The worker registers their address with the registration office at the new place of residence. Housing for the start or help with finding a home makes the start much easier.
- Employment contract directly with the worker
- Registration for social insurance by your company
- Registration of the address by the worker
- Housing or help with finding a home
What is not needed
For skilled workers from the EU, the steps that often take a long time for workers from non-EU countries do not apply.
The start mainly depends on when the worker can move and when you want to fill the position.
- No visa and no appointment at a German mission abroad
- No advance approval by the Federal Employment Agency
- No fast-track procedure for skilled workers
- No recognition of the qualification except in regulated professions
What companies usually expect
What the law does not require, your company may still expect. Most companies want work experience in the occupation.
German at A2 level is common for many positions. In hospitality and construction, many companies are happy with English or colleagues who speak the same language.
Skilled workers from the EU can also be considered for positions without formal training, for example as helpers in a kitchen, a hotel or on a building site.
Tell us what matters to you. We then tailor the preselection to it.
Drivers with a Greek licence
A driving licence from an EU country is usually valid in Germany as well. It then does not need to be converted before deployment.
Proof of the professional driver qualification from an EU country, code 95 on the driving licence, is recognised in Germany, as is a driver card from the EU.
How much German a driving job needs depends on the route, the paperwork and contact with customers.
