Hospitality

Kitchens and service teams need staff who cope with the rush and work reliably together.

  • Chef
  • Commis chef
  • Kitchen assistant
  • Restaurant professional
  • Restaurant service
  • Bartender
  • Breakfast service
  • Kitchen porter

Restaurants look above all for chefs and experienced service staff. In kitchens without guest contact, practice counts for more than the language level.

An honest description of the working hours is important. Split shifts and weekend work are usual, but they should be named in advance.

Seasonal businesses often provide accommodation. That makes placement much easier, because housing in holiday regions is scarce.

Many candidates bring experience from hotel and restaurant kitchens. They learn the recipes and routines of a German business during their induction.

Typical requirements

  • German at level A2 to B1, rather B1 with guest contact
  • Practical experience in the kitchen or in service, ideally with a reference
  • Readiness for split shifts and weekend work
  • Knowledge of hygiene rules, training on site is possible
  • Stamina during busy periods

Typical conditions

  • Full-time with split shifts at lunch and in the evening
  • Premiums for Sunday and public holiday work
  • Meals provided at work
  • In seasonal businesses, accommodation is often provided
  • Induction by the head chef or the service manager
