In brief
Vocational education in Uzbekistan runs through colleges and technical schools with a lot of practice, alongside university degrees and frequent work experience without a certificate. Whether an Uzbek qualification is equivalent to a German one is assessed case by case by the responsible office in Germany. Many people learn German only for emigration, so the language course, the papers and the appointment at the mission abroad belong early in the planning.
Vocational education in Uzbekistan at a glance
After school, the vocational route in Uzbekistan leads through colleges and technical schools. Young people learn an occupation there with a large practical share, for example in construction, engineering or agriculture.
Universities award bachelor's and master's degrees. Engineering, medicine and agriculture are well represented. The master's degree builds on the bachelor's.
Many candidates learned their trade in practice, often abroad as well. There is not always a certificate for it. Formal proof is therefore missing more often than in other countries of origin.
A state agency prepares workers specifically for employment abroad. This includes language courses and technical preparation.
Classifying qualifications and experience
An Uzbek certificate is not automatically valid in Germany. What is assessed is whether the training essentially corresponds to a German one. This requires a matching German reference occupation.
For qualifications from colleges and technical schools, the responsible office looks closely at subjects, hours and practical parts. Ask candidates early for an overview of the training content.
If a certificate is missing, work experience counts. In certain cases it can open a route of its own, though under additional conditions. The official bodies state which.
We record what is documented and what is not. We describe experience without proof openly as such. We do not submit papers that we have not checked.
Language and German skills
The official language is Uzbek, written in the Latin alphabet. Russian is widely used in working life. Many candidates speak both languages.
Many people learn German only for emigration. Tashkent and other cities have language centres and examination options. We record the level on the European scale from A1 to C2.
Say early which level the job requires. For regulated professions the authorities often require a certain level. Which one depends on the occupation and the federal state.
Anyone attending a course enters the target level and examination date in their profile. That way you can see where someone stands and where they are heading.
Papers, translations, certification
Candidates need complete papers for recognition and the visa. They are usually in Uzbek or Russian. They have to be translated and, as a rule, certified.
Which form of certification is required is stated by the responsible office and the mission abroad. Have translations made only by recognised translators.
Watch the spelling of names. Names from the Cyrillic and the Latin alphabet are transliterated in different ways. Differences between passport, certificate and contract lead to queries.
- Passport with sufficient validity
- Certificates from college, technical school or university with a list of subjects
- References and other proof of work experience
- Language certificates
Visa application at the German mission abroad
The skilled worker applies for the employment visa at the responsible German mission abroad. The mission publishes its own information sheets and explains how appointments are given.
Read this guidance before the first step. The requirements may change. Have all papers ready before the appointment takes place.
A reachable contact person in the company helps with queries from the mission. This person should know the contract and the job and be able to answer quickly.
The mission abroad decides on the visa. Neither the company nor Regalis has any influence on this. Nobody promises fixed processing times.
Agreement between Germany and Uzbekistan
Germany and Uzbekistan have concluded an agreement on migration and mobility. The Federal Ministry of the Interior explains what it means for individual occupations and procedures.
The general rules continue to apply to each individual application. Recognition, approval and the visa are assessed by the responsible offices in the same way as for other countries of origin.
Do not promise candidates anything, therefore, that does not follow from the agreement alone. The decision in the individual case remains with the offices.
How Regalis works on site
Permanent partners work for us in Uzbekistan. They speak the language and know the training institutions of the region.
They hold the first conversation, review the papers and explain the route honestly. Anything that remains unclear they clarify with us.
Candidates pay nothing for this. Anyone asking for money is a warning sign and should be reported to us. Every partner has a code that candidates can have confirmed on our verification page.
More on occupations and the process can be found on our page on skilled workers from Uzbekistan.
